Why Are Plunge Pools Popular on the Sunshine Coast?

The Sunshine Coast’s warm climate and strong outdoor lifestyle make a backyard pool an inviting place to cool off, relax and spend time outside. For homeowners who want the enjoyment of a swimming pool while retaining more room for entertaining, landscaping and everyday backyard use, a compact pool can be a practical choice.

Benefits of a Plunge Pool:

  • Ideal for smaller backyards: Compact dimensions can work particularly well where outdoor space is limited or you want to retain more room around the pool.

  • Low maintenance: Smooth, non-porous fibreglass surfaces can help make everyday pool cleaning and maintenance easier.
  • Efficient to heat: A smaller water volume can require less energy to heat, particularly when paired with an efficient pool heating system.
  • Customisable features: Selected designs can incorporate spa jets, built-in seating, LED lighting and other features to personalise your pool area.
  • Stylish and modern: Clean lines, compact shapes and a wide selection of pool colours make small fibreglass pools easy to incorporate into contemporary outdoor spaces.

We chose the California Sparkle as our pool shell colour. I think it is quite new to the colour range and could not be happier. The reflections are beautiful and the appearance is very fresh/bright looking. The best thing about choosing a pool shell colour with The Fibreglass Pool Company is the chance to see a variety of colours in real life at the showroom. And to see the colours against a variety of tiles to make the best choice to suit your home. We love it.
Response from the owner:Hi Mel, thank you so much for your lovely feedback. California Sparkle is a beautiful choice, and we’re so happy to hear you love how fresh and bright it looks. It’s great to know the showroom helped you feel confident with your colour selection. We hope you enjoy your pool for many years to come. Kind Regards, TFPC Team

Sunshine Coast Plunge Pools Frequently Asked Questions

What is a plunge pool?

A plunge pool is a compact swimming pool designed primarily for cooling off, relaxation and enjoying the water within a smaller outdoor space. Its reduced size makes it particularly appealing where backyard space is valuable.

There is no single standard size, but plunge pools are generally smaller than traditional family swimming pools. If you’re looking for a similar space-saving option, our small fibreglass pool range includes a variety of compact dimensions and layouts.

Small and slimline fibreglass pools can work particularly well where backyard space is limited or you want to retain more room for entertaining and landscaping. Models such as the Imperial, Stradbroke, Heron and Hamilton Slimline make efficient use of available space while still providing room to swim and relax.

The total cost varies depending on your chosen pool model, site access, excavation requirements, installation conditions and any optional features or upgrades. An onsite assessment and personalised quote is the best way to understand the cost for your property.

Yes. While traditional plunge pools are commonly associated with cooling off and relaxation, many compact fibreglass pools provide useful open swimming space while maintaining a smaller overall size.

Yes. Compact pools can be paired with heating systems such as heat pumps, solar or gas heating depending on your setup and requirements.

Installation timeframes vary depending on site access, excavation requirements, approvals, weather and the overall project. Because fibreglass pool shells are manufactured before arriving onsite, the installation process can often be more streamlined than traditional concrete pool construction.

Pool approval, engineering and safety requirements depend on your property and individual project. Your local pool team can help coordinate the necessary approvals and compliance requirements before installation begins.
