Why Are Plunge Pools Popular in South Australia?

South Australia’s warm summers and outdoor lifestyle make a backyard pool an inviting place to cool off and spend time outside. A smaller swimming pool can provide somewhere to relax and enjoy the water while leaving more room available for entertaining, landscaping and everyday backyard use.

Benefits of a Plunge Pool:

  • Ideal for smaller backyards: Smaller dimensions can work particularly well where outdoor space is limited or you want to retain more room around the pool.
  • Fast, easy installation: Fibreglass plunge pools can often be installed faster than traditional larger pools.
  • Low maintenance: Smooth, non-porous fibreglass surfaces can help make everyday pool cleaning and maintenance easier.
  • Efficient to heat: A smaller water volume can require less energy to heat, particularly when paired with an efficient pool heating system.
  • Customisable features: Selected designs can incorporate spa jets, built-in seating, LED lighting and other features to personalise your pool area.
  • Stylish and modern: Clean lines, compact shapes and a wide selection of pool colours make small fibreglass pools easy to incorporate into contemporary outdoor spaces.
  • More room for outdoor living: Choosing a smaller pool can leave additional space for paving, gardens, entertaining areas and other backyard features.

We chose the California Sparkle as our pool shell colour. I think it is quite new to the colour range and could not be happier. The reflections are beautiful and the appearance is very fresh/bright looking. The best thing about choosing a pool shell colour with The Fibreglass Pool Company is the chance to see a variety of colours in real life at the showroom. And to see the colours against a variety of tiles to make the best choice to suit your home. We love it.
Response from the owner:Hi Mel, thank you so much for your lovely feedback. California Sparkle is a beautiful choice, and we’re so happy to hear you love how fresh and bright it looks. It’s great to know the showroom helped you feel confident with your colour selection. We hope you enjoy your pool for many years to come. Kind Regards, TFPC Team

Plunge Pool Questions for South Australian Homeowners

What is a plunge pool?

A plunge pool is a smaller swimming pool commonly chosen for cooling off, relaxing and enjoying time in the water without needing the space of a large family pool. Its reduced size can also allow more of the backyard to remain available for entertaining, gardens and other outdoor uses.

There is no single set of dimensions that defines every plunge pool. They are generally smaller than conventional swimming pools and designed to use outdoor space efficiently. Our small and slimline fibreglass range includes a variety of sizes for South Australian homeowners looking for a similar space-saving option.

The right design will depend on your available space and how you intend to use the pool. Models such as the Imperial, Stradbroke, Heron and Hamilton Slimline are useful options to compare if you want smaller dimensions while retaining practical swimming and relaxation areas.

Every project is different, so the final price will depend on your chosen pool, property access, excavation, site conditions, installation requirements and any additional features. Having your property assessed allows your local team to prepare a quote based on the actual requirements of your backyard.

Yes. Many smaller fibreglass pools provide useful open water for casual swimming, cooling off and spending time with family. The amount of available swimming area will vary depending on the dimensions and internal layout of the model you choose.

Yes. Suitable heating equipment can be paired with many small fibreglass pool designs. Heating can help provide greater control over the water temperature and may allow you to comfortably use the pool across more of the year.

Installation timeframes vary depending on site access, excavation requirements, approvals, weather and the overall project. Because fibreglass pool shells are manufactured before arriving onsite, the installation process can often be more streamlined than traditional concrete pool construction.

Pool approval, engineering and safety requirements depend on your property and individual project. Your local pool team can help coordinate the necessary approvals and compliance requirements before installation begins.
